What is CAD?

CAD or Coronary Artery Disease is caused due to the formation of plaques in the walls of coronary arteries in the heart. The coronary arteries are the blood vessels that supply the heart with blood and hence oxygen. The blockage of these arteries will deprive the heart of blood /oxygen and the heart muscle, also called the myocardium, will gradually undergo muscle degeneration and scarring. Once the heart muscle is scarred, the heart loses its function.
